Spot the differences

I can't stand copycats. I am tired of entering Zara and being surrounded by an army of racks filled with copies. I pity those designers who worked for the high street companies, because they are forced to reproduce looks straight from the runway. I can't even understand why they hire designers.

When I read something like: "The democratization of fashion", I can't help, but laugh. What exactly do they mean with democratization? Do I need to feel grateful -with irony- to the good Gods of fashion, that allow us, the poor and mediocre common people, to buy copies of the real things? I don't give a mer(de)* for that lack of creativity.

And now Victoria Secret gets into the act.

Balenciaga

Victoria Secret

Seriously, does Victoria Secret expect to increase their sales with this?

*Forgive the bad language.

Those Balenciaga boots are sooo far from Victoria's Secret's usual stuff.. It's ridiculous. I don't shop high street but my friends do, and whenever I go shopping with them and they find something nice, all I can think of is which designer it's been copied from.

Pah...I wonder if the people over at VS have spent a bit too much time reading US Weekly? Funny part is, I can see people who might not have access to the Balenciagas going for them, too.

Like LePortillon said I don't shop high street but whenever I go with my friends, I go in to H&M - Chloé, I go into Mango - Lanvin, etc.
And this is seriously ridiculous. Chloé just sued Topshop for basically copying one of their dresses into the tiniest detail - except of course the quality.
Plus, I am not exactly sure how many people beside the Olsen twins will actually wear those shoes.

i love your point. it's so true. yes, the great generosity appears to be this trickle down theory. the price changes, the quality changes, but the style/concept, xeroxed. cheated from every angle, imo.

Jajjaja sólo ahora me di cuenta que puedo postear en español, pues acabo de revisar tu perfil, y luego de tus comentarios en mi blog en este idioma pensé que eras bilingüe...
Esos zapatos parecen muy incómodos para mí

VS makes shoes? I thought all they sold were heidi klum enhancement brassieres and glitter bronzers.

But I think originality comes very rarely these days. Everytime I step into H&M or those cheapy stores I see Marc Jacobs ripoffs in the corner and a rack of bold font HOH wannabe tees. Sad.

i cant stand copycats either... any kind of copy... i hate them and Zzara, H&m and other mass reatailers are really boring about new outfits and designs... i have also seen those "balenciaga ankle boots" made by Victoria secret ... have you seen a fringe dress in Zara? it´s exatly like the prada from last season!

i made apost about this: http://playgroundimperfection.blogspot.com/2007/06/fake-copy-of-copy.html

a big fuss for nothing. i don't see where is the problem when you are offered two almost identical items that for the one you have to spend a two months salary (quite provocative for our world)whilst for the other you just need to open your wallet.it's nothing but clothes(i love them!). it's as if your're refering to pieces of art.

I cannot stand blatant rip offs. In spring, if I saw one more copy Gucci puple and pink folk print dress, I just might have burned every shop down.
But, at the same time it's ok I guess, if it was only inspired not just a rip off, afterall this is what the designers are there to do - set the trends.
The song choice is perfect! I love that song.

to be honest, I can't make a headache over it that much. I doubt it will make many sales anyway, but they have always been "copy cats" in the fashion aspect of things.

I'm not against copies, I think with the prices on the runway, it's not surprising that these designs filter through the chain, but I think everything should be in moderation, and high street designers should still be free to design something fresh and new.

I think these are rather good copies. Though aren't they a little too similar? And why Victoria's Secret? I swear they just do underwear..?

There always be copycats everywhere. And you think Marc Jacobs didn't do that? Think twice. (^,~)
Browse for more infos before posting, girls. They all do that! So, please...

^ Who mentioned Marc Jacobs? Not me, you should read (and think, in case you can) twice. Next time you dare to criticize my blog, don't hide yourself under the anonymous name, please.
