There is always been a debate about whether fashion photography should concentrate on picturing the clothes or whether it should be creative and arty. Amid this controversy is the figure of Lillian Bassman, who have always stated through her work the desire of going a step further. Perhaps her past as a fashion illustrator prompted her to manipulate her pictures -first in the darkroom, now with Photoshop- providing her subjects with power and mistery. Truth is that thanks to these techniques she has achieved a unique style and still receives homages at 93.

En medio de esta polémica ha estado la figura de Lillian Bassman, que con sus capturas demuestra un deseo por ir un paso más allá. Quizá su pasado de ilustradora fue lo que la impulsó a manipular sus fotografías -antes en el cuarto oscuro, ahora con Photoshop- para darles misterio y potencia a sus sujetos. Lo cierto es que gracias a estas técnicas ha conseguido un estilo único e inimitable y que le sigan lloviendo los homenajes a sus 93 años.
