Richard Avedon

OK, I know Richard Avedon is one of the most famous photographers in history and surely I won't discover anything new to anyone. However, I think it would be a sin not to include him in one of my Sunday posts. Avedon's work meant a milestone in fashion editorials, but he also was a great portrayer commited to the world he had to live. His studio was busy with the most influential people in film, music, literature, politics, art, fashion and a long etcetera. But he went a step further capturing images of mental institutions, the civil rights movement or the fall of the Berlin wall.

Vale, ya sé que Richard Avedon es uno de los fotógrafos más famosos de la historia y que seguramente no le estaré descubriendo nada nuevo a nadie. Pero de todas maneras sería un pecado no dedicarle uno de mis posts domingueros. Avedon, además de marcar un antes y un después en el editorial de moda, fue un gran retratista comprometido con el mundo que le tocó vivir. Por su estudio pasaron los personajes más influyentes del cine, la música, la literatura, la política, el arte, la moda y un largo etcétera. Pero no sé quedó sólo ahí, sino que con su objetivo capturó imágenes de instituciones mentales, del movimiento por los derechos civiles o de la caída del muro de Berlín.
