"Anyone but me, anywhere but here"

Anyone who happens to be in Romania should go and see "Anyone but me, anywhere but here" an exhibiton by Olivia Mihaltianu and Rozalb de Mura at the Brukental Museum‏.

Cualquiera que se encuentre en Rumanía debería pasarse por "Anyone but me, anywhere but here" una exposición de Olivia Mihaltianu and Rozalb de Mura en el museo Brukental.

any one but me, any where but there

"The project "Anyone but me, anywhere but here" has been built on the relationship and the sometimes disloyal exchange between past and present. Both I myself as a curator and themselves as artists and designers share the same fascination for objects, the propensity towards reason and connections as well as the motivation to always create new situations and change the natural order of things.

Starting from a missing scene in Antonioni' film "The Eclipse", Olivia Mihaltianu, visual artist, and Olah Gyarfas, the designer of Rozalb de Mura cutting-edge label are revealing a private world, a laboratory of life-style and holiday culture.

Old photographs depicting moments of vulnerability and social alienation, colonialist furniture lying at the frontiers of reality, the lost world and the aborted mission of a reified system or the conceptual drawings of a designer who daily goes beyond the limits of the human body build the alternative history of a world which no longer belongs to us. The absolute clothing, the utmost protection - Olah Gyarfas's measurement – is the only thing left to synthesize light in the search of the lost soul or the perfect shape.

Boxes containing Olivia Mihaltianu's personal belongings are exhibited with a scientist's accuracy. They are fighting time and black holes in order to record the moment zero of the artist's past. Moreover, the film "The Island" complicates Olivia Mihaltianu's fragile position and re-sets the modern aesthetics of European cinema after WWII. It looks as if everything happens only in our mind, reality being a mere task and us the true characters of an endless film."
