Sobre cebollas y otras hortalizas
Picture: Julien Denoyer

Lessons
“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

Carolyn Griffin
I couldn't help but think of my beloved Harry Callahan when I saw these pictures from Carolyn Griffin. The simplicity sublimated in the daily burdens of life can be so, so beautiful.

Pukine shop
Pukine shop is a Finland based store launched in 2011. Petra, the invisible hand behind it, truly believes in sustainable fashion. She offers good quality clothes able to pass the test of time. That makes of Pukine a very appealing shop for the slow fashion believer. To top it off, every single item has the allure of vintage clothes combined with a modern and bohemian touch. At Pukine we can find brands like Patouf, Bric-a-Brac or the eco-conscious Camilla Norrback among others. Labels like TBA or Erica Weiner’s jewellery will also be available really soon.

Sharing love in the blogosphere
I don't know if you follow Kate Miss' blog "For me, for you", but if you do, you'll already know the difficult situation she's going through. Her boyfriend has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and unfortunately he doesn't have health insurance. Living in the US that means having to face a big economic problem. To cover the costs, Kate organised a fundraiser selling her pictures and collages and it was a total success! Will and Kate already have enough money to pay for the bills. I can't help but feel so proud of being a part of such a generous community as the blogosphere. From here I'd like to congratulate them both and I wish Will a quick recovery.

Jessica Lange
Last Tueday I went to the brand new Niemeyer Center to see the much-awaited Jessica Lange's photography exhibition. Unseen, is arranged in two parts: "Things I see" and "Mexico-On Scene", that except from the use of black and white have nothing to do with each other. Truth to be told there are high quality photos in the show but the whole turns out to be pretty basic. Perhaps it's because as my grandmother would put it "one shouldn't bite off more than you can chew" and as a photographer, Jessica Lange almost choked.

Steve Mono
I've been looking for the perfect briefcase for as long as I can remember but the wait is now over. As if they were able to read my mind, the people at Steve Mono have done exactly what I wished for. The bags are carefully made in Spain with an exquisite leather and are inspired by "vintage photos, books or movies" from the 50's and 60's.

By the way, I've been interviewed by the people at shopaholic. You can see my answers here scrolling down a bit.

Chance
At this point, I haven't got over breton t-shirts yet and with the emergence of brands like Chance, I think I'll never will. Her founder and creative director states "desing, simplicity, personal style and adventure. I've always known I'll build my business around these values. The striped t-shirt is the Chance icon and anchor, but it's also just the beginning. Ultimately it's about endless possibility." I think I'm in love.

Les parapluies de Cherbourg
I hate musicals but I love watching a young Catherine Deneuve.
Odio los musicales pero adoro ver a Catherine Deneuve tan jovencita.

Lyell for Tocca
I jumped for joy when I discovered these pictures belong to Emma's Fletcher latest collection for Tocca. The clothing couldn't be more true to the Lyell spirit many felt in love with: scalloped hems, peter pan collars, sheer silks and fantastic coats. All topped with a vintage feeling, very sensual, a sort of refined Lolita. Such a pity their clothes are only available in New York.

Miss Hedwig
I love the colours in these pictures. They are perfect to etch on the memory as a reminder of the last days of summer.

Brioche
There are few things better for breakfast than a couple of tasty brioche slices along with some homemade jam, don't you think? You can find the recipe I used at La tartine gourmande.

Bows and Bandits
In an increasingly globalised world, people want to stand out from the crowd. Taking advantage of this, vintage shops are living their golden age. Many of these stores are opening their doors and being different from the rest it’s essential. What sets Bows and Bandits apart are their typical Austrian vintage items which they combine with more rock & roll chic pieces. The result is a quirky aesthetic but very feminine after all. To top it off, they’ve recently opened a new section devoted to home décor which includes a nice range of the most coveted object right now: deer antlers.

Patouf
Many people will agree with me when I say that Sweden is in fashion. It's a fact. If you add french's savoir-faire, the combination becomes a winner. That is Patouf, a Swedish brand that mixes the best of french cuts with Scandinavian design. Named Rookie of the year by the Swedish fashion council, Patouf has -no doubt- a very promising future.

Tarkovsky polaroids
I've always thought photography was one of the strongest points in Tarkovsky's films and to my delight I've recently learnt that a book of his Polaroids called Bright, bright day has been published. The name couldn't be better chosen as light plays a key role in all the pictures, giving them an incredibly moving halo of mistery.

Ballet Beautiful
I don't know about you but I don't like practicing sports very much. Endorphines don't produce the analgesia effect in me or at least I don't notice it. But I know my body needs it and at last I've find a motivating activity: ballet beautiful. It's a method created by Mary Helen Bowers to strengthen and sculpt the body; in fact it was the one Natalie Portman used to prepare her Black Swan's role. It improves posture, increases flexibility and elongates limbs. If that isn't enough to persuade you, please admire the uber beautiful Bowers in the pictures above.
