Paul Strand defined himself "as an explorer who has spent his life on a long voyage of discovery." His restlesness led him to portray the world in a new and unusual way. He adapted his art to a relative time and reality that went from the aseptic Wall Street to the traditional Sicilian family. Moreover, he was able to transgress the classic principles of photography, becoming one of his greatests masters.
Paul Strand se definía así mismo "como un explorador que ha pasado su vida en un largo viaje de descubrimiento." Su inquietud le llevó a retratar el mundo de una forma poco habitual. Supo moldear su arte a un tiempo y una realidad relativas, casi einsteinianas, que iban desde la aséptica Wall Street hasta la Sicilia más tradicional. Saltándose todos los principios clásicos, transgredió los límites de la fotografía convirtiéndose así en uno de sus grandes maestros.
