Aurora Sansone

It's been a time since I follow Aurora Sansone -a regular in the most important street style blogs- who works as a stylist for Vogue Nippon. She is a master of the androgynous, combining pieces so characteristic of the male wardrobe such as tailored pants with feminine silk shirts resulting in an elegant yet modern style.

Chloë for Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony has finally unveiled the complete collection designed by Chloë Sevigny. The line is composed of forty pieces in a price range that goes from $150 to $500 for a jacket. Let's face it, it's way expensive. I can understand that the original liberty prints are not cheap, but $365 for a chambray dress is way too much.

Apart from that, I'm in love with the collection. Inspired by her own wardrobe at junior school, the line is full of liberty prints, gingham(I'm currently obsessed with it), tough wedges, leopard print and high-waisted trousers and skirts.

If you have some money left to splurge on one of this beautiful pieces, they are available at Opening Ceremony, Barneys, Colette and Dover Street Market.

Valentine Fillol-Cordier

Valentine Fillol-Cordier is a Parisian model, stylist and muse to many magazines and designers -including Jean Touitou and Charles Anastase-.

I have been admiring her sense of style for a while now. She isn't one of the most beautiful models out there, but she has something so distinctive, that makes her very special. The fact that she owns the most amazing wardrobe, stuffed with vintage from all over the world and labels like Chanel helps. In her own words, her style is "something between Coco Chanel and Patti Smith". She couldn't have defined it better.

Arden Wohl

Arden Wohl- and her ubiquitous headbands- are well known at Manhattan's scene. She is a beginner filmmaker, who carries her particular and quirky style to all the parties and fashion weeks you can imagine with a surprising ease.

Could she possibly be a deserving successor of Chloë Sevigny? Or is Chloë setting very high standards?

You can watch her first short film

The return of the Barbour

When you see two of the coolest girls in the planet wearing the same jacket, you start thinking why on earth you don't have it yet. The jacket is the Barbour, and those girls are Ashley Olsen and Alexa Chung.

I used to wear my wax cotton Barbour all the time during my preadolescence. I still can remember its strong odour, the corduroy collar and the warm tartan lining.

I stopped wearing it because it made me feel so posh at the time. But now, I realise it can look cool with the right clothes. The best thing is they last decades and can save you from many downpours.

Thanks to Stevie from Discotheque Confusion for her useful help.

Girls with Allure: Trini

At last another issue of Girls with Allure is out. I am going to maintain, more or less, the questionnaire in all the interviews.

This time I had the pleasure to interview Trini. In her early twenties, she's already a fashion designer and has recently moved from her home country, Chile to Madrid.

Style. "My style is just plain me. An extension of who i am. I don't think it can be defined.I'm influenced on certain decades in fashion, 60s and 70s but really I don't think in anything else. I dress according to my mood and definitely in what i have to do in my day. "

Who are your favourite designers?
"Luella Bartley, Phillip Lim and Yvan Mispelaere."

Predict a trend for next season. What will be wearing in four months?

"For spring i think we will be full of little flowery print dresses, which i personally adore. "

A book, a film, and a song:

"Chanel: Her style and her life by Janet Wallach.

La finestra di fronte .

After hours - The Velvet Underground."

Fetish: "Hats and shoes. I collect them."

As a designer, what is your reaction at the raise of celebrities turned into "designers"?

"Well it just lets you know anyone can "design" know a days. Anyone who is in the media at least. Some do it good but mostly don't. Perfect example of who don't J-LO,Gwen Stefani, or Beyonce. They design trashy clothes and are not by any chance at the level of designers who did study the matter at college. It just shows."

What is, in your opinion, the best garment ever designed? "Pants/shorts for women!"

Which beauty product you can't live without? "Red nail polish."

Do you see a big difference between the way people dress in Spain, and your home country?

"Yes, here people are more into fashion. They are more concerned of details and accessories. Men specially. "

What does elegance mean? "Refined. Audrey Hepburn."

Girls with Allure : Alix, the cherry blossom girl.

As you read this, a new section called, Girls with Allure, is making its debut. From time to time, I will post an interview with a gal talking about her style.

It doesn't occur to me anybody better to start it with than Alix, aka the cherry blossom girl. She has just left the design school and although she lives in Paris, she claims the city doesn't really influences her style. People at the city of light are classic, and narrow-minded concerning trends. However, several internships at Chloé and Alexander McQueen might have influenced the way she dresses.

She defines her style as romantic, but not "too girly". She likes vintage clothing "such as old laces, retro prints or granny knitted jumpers, navy costumes, or 70's trousers and blouses mixed with brands like zara or h&m" and some designer pieces. But she always takes her time to find a good piece always following her heart.

She likes young, fresh and pure girls like those featured in David Hamilton's photography or Sofia Coppola's films. It comes to no surprise her love for baby doll dresses, light and floaty fabrics, and floral prints. Alix, doesn't fancy colourful clothing, and adds lots of accessories to give her outfits a twist: "I use scarves, brooches, long necklaces, vintage bags, and I'm fond of tights which are really practical when somebody is wearing so much skirts and dresses as me!"

What's in your bag? "some magazines of the moment such as Jalouse and the Lula issue number 5, my I-pod, cell phone, a small sketchbook, color pens (I like to make drawing anywhere), lip balm, red lipstick I use for lips and cheeks, vintage wallet, a small umbrella, Paris map (I'm an ignorant citizen), a little candy box , keys, and boyfriend pictures (haha what a sentimental). "

You smell to... "At the moment it's "daisy" by Marc Jacobs, I also like "premier jour" by Nina Ricci and "éclat d'arpège" by Lanvin "

A book, a film, and a song: "my favorite book is "l'écume des jours" by Boris Vian, my favorite film is "the virgin suicides" by Sofia Coppola, and my favorite song is "cherry blossom girl" by Air"

Do you have a fetish? "not at all, but I must admit I'm a bit attracted to shoes."

What is, in your opinion, the best garment ever designed? "the dress! easy and always feminine."

Which beauty product you can't live without? "I'm not using makeup so much, but sometimes my skin turns a little bit red, especially during winter, that's why I'm really keen on the Chanel double perfection fluid foundation, it's so light and soft! I also use many different day and night face creams, the ones from the brand "doux me" are the best on my sense.

Who are your favourite designers? "Sofia Kokosalaki, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, Nicolas Guesquière for Balenciaga, Consuela Castiglioni for Marni, and Stella McCartney. I was a huge fan of Phoebe Philo for Chloé. I'm also fond of the line unique for Topshop."

Do you have a style icon? Who is she/he? "not really, but sometimes I'm a bit inspired by Kirsten Dunst outfits. I've been inspired a lot by movies characters, the very first one being Mathilda (Natalie Portman) in "Leon", and then of course the Lisbon sisters."

What does elegance mean to you? "stay natural...and smile! the clothes make part of the job but not everything!"

Song: Cherry Blossom Girl - Air

Giovanna Battaglia

I confess: I have a girl crush on Giovanna Battaglia. You might have noticed her web is in my list of links since a long time ago.
She is the fashion editor of L'Uomo Vogue, and one of the best dressed woman I've ever seen. Giovanna is very elegant, but not in a boring way, always with a twist. For what I see in the pics, her favourites labels are Balenciaga, Prada and Chanel all very expensive and far away from my budget.

Enjoy this inspiring photos.

Lou Doillon by Lee Cooper

The Chloë Sevigny collaboration with Opening Ceremony is getting a lot of coverage, and I'm not complaining (I swear!) because is the best celebrity line I've seen by far. However, hardly anybody talks about Lou Doillon's collection for Lee Cooper. She signed for three years to design sixteen pieces including; high-waisted pants, t-shirts and accessories.

Lee Cooper is an English label initially created for workwear in 1908, becoming a well-known denim brand later.

Vogue Paris features in its web this cool video where she talks, draws, models and sings (don't know why but her voice there reminds me so much of Devendra Banhart). She names Oliver Twist as one of her main inspirations for the collection, but I do see her own style as the hugest influence.

Watch the video to see the complete -disappointing- collection :

Sophie Auster

The beautiful Sophie, is the daughter of writers Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt. She was born in 1987, and two years ago, her first CD was released. She sings her father's works and the translated poetry of Robert Desnos, Guillaume Apollinaire,Paul Eluard, Tristan Tzara and Philippe Soupault. The younger Auster is not only a singer but also and actress. Sophie stars his dad's next film: The Inner Life of Martin Frost.

Her style is simple and clean. I suppose I like it, because, it's my style too. She wears: jeans, Ray-Ban aviators, military jackets, skinnies, tailored waistcoats,etc...

If you haven't listened to her music yet, do it. Her voice is so powerful and charming.

Daria Werbowy

This 23-year-old Canadian is the leader of neo-grunge style. To get her look you need a leather jacket, cardigans, plaid shirts, tough boots and white tanks . Don't forget to borrow a pair of aged jeans from your boyfriend's closet and make some holes with repeated washings and purposeful scratching with sandpaper.

The unknown soldier...fashion soldier

Flipping through the pages of Misshapes I found this girls. They both have amazing style, so inspiring!

Isn't the most beautiful top you've ever seen? I like the combination of blue sky silk and jacquard lace. It matches so well with the grey skinnies.

I love the upper part of this dress.

Another nice top. Simple but chic.

Clémence Poésy

Clémence is a french actress, most famous for playing Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I adore her style. The range of colours she usually wears is pretty simple: black, white and blue. However she shows how textures make the difference.
