"You who must leave everything that you cannot control"

cheetah coat 2
I've never been a fan of leopard/cheetah prints, mainly because most of them look so tacky. But this 50's cut coat is everything but tacky. Even with that, I wouldn't find the guts to wear it so if any of you is interested you can buy it here.

BODKIN

spring10_bodkin
While cold still chills me to the bone, my head follows the pace of fashion and its seasons. That means I am already thinking about what's next for spring and it's time to revisit the fresh proposals of brands like Bodkin.

Bodkin.

The collection consists of whites mixed with breton stripes and sheer fabrics that take unexpected forms as well as simple and fun. A highly wearable potpourri that will make the hot days of summer more bearable.

loafers

Yesterday my new Topshop loafers arrived in the mail. I love them to bits, I actually wore them today.

Magnificent

magnificent

If I remember correctly, it's been two months since I bought a fashion magazine. That wouldn't have happened a few years ago. I don't know if that's because I'm a little dissapointed by the fact that advertising has such a huge -if not all- influence or simply because they bore me to death; the thing is I don't buy magazines anymore. Online publications like Magnificent Magazine don't help either. To begin with MagMag does great editorials, besides they support upcoming designers and there is no advertising. What else can you ask for?
Highly recommended.

Today on the train back home I saw my image reflected in the glass and I realized that the older I get, the simpler I like things to be. I don't fancy extremely ornate or too fashionable pieces. I prefer simple things, but well made, that excel in details and that theory applies also to clothing. Maybe that's why I like the French label Bérangère Claire so much because it stands for the simplicity and quality of its menswear inspired pieces.

Being a child

Some days ago I was flipping through Trendycrew and I happened upon this picture from Paris fashion week. In the photo you can see Emmanuelle Alt, her assistant Geraldine Saglio and her daughter. And you know what? The outfit that attracted me the most was that of the girl. It was probably her mother's fault, but either way I love it. Her uniform: Burberry trench, breton t-shirt, jeans and Repetto flats is not only ageless but also timeless. I don't know about you but I'll be copying it. Besides, it gives me an excuse to buy a beige trench at last.

...

Just a quick note to let you know that I haven't been posting because I've been feeling under the weather. In other news, I got a camera for Christmas so expect more pictures from yours truly.

Immortality

Hedi Slimane

"A person is nothing but his image. Philosophers can tell us that it doesn't matter what the world thinks of us, that nothing matters but what we really are. But philosophers don't understand anything. As long as we live with other people, we are only what other people consider us to be. Thinking about how others see us and trying to make our image as attractive as possible is considered a kind of dissembling or cheating. But does there exist another kind of direct contact between my self and their selves except throught the mediation of the eyes? Can we possibly imagine love without anxiously following our image in the mind of the beloved? When we are no longer interested in how we are seen by the person we love, it means we no longer love. [...]
It's naive to believe that our image is only an illusion that conceals our selves, as the one true essence independent of the eyes of the world. The imagologues have revealed with cynical radicalism that the reverse is true: our self is a mere illusion, ungraspable, indescribable, misty while the only reality, all too easily graspable and describable, is our image in the eyes of others. And the worst thing about it is that you are not its master. First you try to paint it yourself, then you want at least to influence and control it, but in vain: a single malicious phrase is enough to change you forever into a depressingly simple caricature."

Immortality. Milan Kundera

Milan Kundera.
